The entire group will have an silent auction once the paintings are completed. We will invite the community and donate proceeds to a charity of the group's choice. M.A.S.H. Burn Camp!!!!!
Posted by: Dorothy Pearrow on 3/17/2006 8:24:27 AM x ( 0 Comments)

The Burn Camp for children who have suffered burns is held 7/30-8/05 outside of Austin. On the Wednesday (they could try and move to Friday for you if that would help), they hold a MASH Camp where the children go through a "round robin" setting and visit a bunch of different army tents, each manned by a different MASH character. They will be having booths utilizing all of our disciplines and vital functions could be performed by each discipline. In addition, they would love to have some students educate the children on health care careers inbetween the tents. There is a lot of planning that goes into this; you would need to decide now if you plan to attend. The community sponsor would be the consulting physical therapist, Dr. Tom Davis. This is truly life changing event for both the children and you. Contact Dapearro@utmb.edu if interested.

Looking for Capstone Team
Posted by: Krysta Williams on 1/9/2006 9:26:41 PM x ( 0 Comments)

I am a PA student looking for anyone who needs a capstone project. There is a research project that has been underway to see if education about immunizations will increase the immunization rate of the group that receives the intervenation (immunization information).
Basically, we go to the hospital and talk to the new mothers about immunizations, and get the information (and permission) needed so we can follow the child's immunization record for a certain amount of time.
For the capstone project, we want to look at a specific aspect of the research, such as, is there a relationship between the mother's age (part of the information we have to collect anyway) and the likely-hood of the child being up to date on their immunizations.
Most patients are discharged before noon, so the most best time to go is appr. 9:30 or 10 to 11 or 12 (or less time if there are not many patients) for a few days a week. It would be a real plus to be able to speak Spanish (b/c I sure can't!) so we can get the numbers we need.
Anyone who is interested or has questions can contact me at krywilli@utmb.edu, or page me 409-645-5601.

Krysta
